September to Remember

I've decided that maybe a blog would be a good idea to help keep family and loved ones, near and far, up to date with us and mainly Loralei.  So, here it goes.....

September has definitely been one to remember.  Crazy busy, fun, sad & blessed.

We found out in Aug that we have a buyer for our house and the first initial closing was for Sept 9th.  So the previous weekend, Labor Day weekend, we spent laboring.  We managed to pack up the majority of our house and get it all out by Sunday (with a lot of help from friends & family) only to find out Sunday evening that the closing date has been delayed.  It is now Sept 29th and after 3 delays we are set to close tomorrow morning....here's hoping this one sticks!

We have found a wonderful new home that seems to be a nothing short of God's guidance.  It's a foreclosure that is basically brand new.  It was built in 2006 and the best part is that it seems to be perfect for our family.  No updates are needed, the yard is beautiful and better than we could have asked for, great neighborhood etc.....Not only is the house great but it's across the lake from my Aunt & Uncle, a couple of streets from where our best friends, The Owenby's, just moved into their new home & come to find out, it's on the same street as a close friend of mine that I've grown up with since kindergarten.  We feel very blessed in what God has given us.

Loralei.....This has been quite a month for her too.  She started crawling and is EVERYWHERE!  She loves going through the empty house in her walker and also likes opening cabinets & closing them, opening & closing.....you get the point.  She also said her first word and it was "MAMA!!!!!!"  This occurred when she was sick for the first time.  She caught a fever virus that is going around the weekend of  the 9th and wasn't feeling too well.  When her fever was down she would play like normal so she was running around in her walker and when her fever would spike she was extremely clingy to her Mama.  She wouldn't even let her Daddy hold her.  We were all in the kitchen and she started fussing.  She stuck her hand out and made the "get me" motion that she does when she wants something...in this case, me.  She then looked at me and in her fuss went, "MMMMM...MMMMMA......MMMMAAAA MMMMAAAAA"  Chuck and I both just looked at each other and he said, "Well, it doesn't get any clearer than that"  It def made my heart smile.
She has also cut 2 more teeth this month, one top & one bottom.  Giving her a total of 6 teeth.  This girl is going to have a million dollar smile by her first b'day at this rate.
She is really coming into her own little personality.  She is such a happy baby!  She has started laughing in response to our laughter and it makes us all laugh harder.  Her favorite toy is....BELLA.  She loves to pet her and play ball w/ her.  They each grab an end of the string attached to the ball and tug.  Bella doesn't always realize she has to be gentle with her tugs...Loralei has had a couple bumps on the floor b/c of this but she gets over it fast & is right back to playing.
She also had her first Alabama tailgating experience, complete w/ a picture with Big AL himself.  She did great.  She looked like a little cheerleader and got to meet all of our tailgating family.

The saddest & most heartbreaking part of this month is the passing of our eldest four legged child, Baxter.
About a month ago Chuck came in and said he thought Baxter might have heartworms

For the soul of EVERY living thing is in the hand of God.
Job 12:10

We miss him dearly.....There's not another one like him.
